Cape Wrath Trail (April 2011) - Neil & Tanya
A 200 mile route through the Highlands of Scotland, from Fort William to the most north-westerly point on mainland Britain at Cape Wrath. Possibly the most remote and challenging long-distance walk in Britain. It took us through some stunning mountain scenery, with plenty of sections of cross-country walking with no paths, and wild camping.
Pyrenean Haute Route (June/July 2010) - Neil & Tanya
Stretching from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean, the Haute Route follows the 500 mile border between France and Spain going over some of the highest passes in the Pyrenees. Our most challenging walk to date, with steep snow, boulder fields and scrambling and stupidly heavy rucksacks.

Camino de Santiago & Finisterre (May 2010) - Tanya
I walked the 550 miles of the Way of St James across northern Spain, from St Jean Pied de Port in the Pyrenees to the medieval pilgrimage city of Santiago de Compostela, then on to Finisterre. With kind donations from friends, family and colleagues, the walk raised over 1000 pounds in aid of Shelterbox, who provide emergency shelter to people made homeless by disasters worldwide.
I loved the walk and the historical places en route, and the rolling countryside gave me good experience of walking on average 20 miles a day.
Cleveland Way (December 2009) - Tanya
109 miles long, starting at Helmsley on the North York Moors, and finishing at Filey on the Yorkshire Coast. I started on Boxing Day with deep snow on the ground, and finished on New Years Day with Neil's company for the final stretch from Scarborough.
Good views but hard work, and with the most miserable wild camping I've ever done (wet down sleeping bag - not good). The grouse were good company though.

The Dales Way (April 2009) - Tanya
A thoroughly enjoyable walk of 84 miles from Ilkley in Yorkshire, through Wharfedale, Dentdale, and over to Windermere. Four days of spring sunshine, flowers and lambs (aah!)
The Pennine Way (December 2008 - January 2009) - Neil and Tanya
The Pennine Way stretches 267 miles from Edale in Derbyshire to Kirk Yetholm just over the Scottish border, one of the best long distance walks in Britain, and a great way to spend Christmas and New Year! The early starts and short daylight hours meant a lot of walking in the dark. The weather was cold but conditions underfoot generally good, with some bogs frozen over. It was great finishing most days in a pub with good traditional food.
The Cumbria Way (October 2007) - Tanya
I wanted to start a long distance walk from home in Kendal and this was it. I walked down the River Kent to join the Cumbria Coastal Path and followed this to Ulverston before joining the Cumbria Way to Carlisle, giving a total of about 100 miles. Bad weather meant I only camped twice; highlight was spending Hallowe'en at the Lingy Hut, a small wooden bothy on top of the fells behind Skiddaw with the wind howling through the cracks in the wall.
West Highland Way (September 2007) - Tanya and Roz Savage
A jolly jaunt along the very popular West Highland Way, which runs for 96 miles from Milngavie near Glasgow to Fort William, with my sister Roz. Mixed weather but some great scenery, and it felt great to emerge from a freezing night in a very small tent on Rannoch Moor to see snow on the mountains.
Coast to Coast Walk
Another classic long distance walk, starting on the west coast at St Bees and finishing at Robin Hoods Bay on the east coast 180 miles later, crossing some of the most beautiful sections of the Lakes, the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors.
Tanya (April 2007) - a grudge match, having quit half way three years earlier. Completed in 10 days, camping all the way. Must do it again and take longer and enjoy it more - it's a great route!
Neil (May 2004) - completed in 8 days and it took another 8 days for my feet to recover.
Annapurna Circuit and Sanctuary, Nepal (May 2006) - Neil and Tanya
Gokyo and Everest Base Camp, Nepal (April 2006) - Neil and Tanya
Singalilla Ridge, northeast India (March 2006) - Neil and Tanya
